Scope of Work

Fiber Infrastructure Modernization: Installation of new fiber optic cables and systematic migration from multimode to single-mode fiber to support higher bandwidth and extended transmission distances.
Network Cabinet Remediation: Reorganization, labeling, and professional cable management of existing network cabinets to improve airflow, accessibility, and fault isolation.
Fiber Termination & Testing: Fusion splicing, termination, and OTDR testing to ensure signal integrity and compliance with performance standards.
Network Reliability Improvements: Establishment of improved fiber routing and logical redundancy paths to enhance system resilience and uptime.

Safety Protocols and Compliance

Client HSE Compliance: All activities were executed in strict accordance with Lumwana Mining Company’s health, safety, and environmental policies.
Work-at-Height Permits: Formal permit systems were followed for all elevated work, including cabinet installations and cable routing at height.
Electrical Isolation (LOTO): Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures were implemented to ensure electrical circuits were safely isolated prior to any network cabinet or fiber work.
Pre-Task Risk Assessments: Daily risk assessments and job safety briefings were conducted to identify hazards and enforce safe work practices.

Background

These overhead lines serve as the lifeline for transporting electricity throughout the mine, powering critical machinery, lighting systems, and various other operational needs. Scope of Work

Conductors and Components: Installation and maintenance of 33kV conductors, replacement of degraded wooden poles, dressing/stripping of Overhead Line poles.
Structural Support: Retensioning of lines, installation of stays for additional line support, and installation of guard wire
Connectivity and Load Management: Connecting and disconnecting dropper cables and jumpers, as well as mounting pole-mounted transformers to ensure consistent load distribution.
Safety Enclosures: Fencing around portable substations and transformer yards to prevent unauthorized access and enhance safety around high-voltage areas.
Inspection and Auditing: Conducting thorough line inspections, or line audits, to identify potential weaknesses or risks in the system.
